Intro An heir to an old apartment (played by Ren Dahua) installs hidden cameras in the rooms and rents them out at a low price. This landlord does not want diligent and studious students, nor tedious office workers, nor frugal and simple families; he only wants "normal people"—those with chaotic potential who can satisfy his voyeuristic desires. Therefore, divorced and with a history of domestic violence is lecherous PE teacher Old Zhang (played by Zhuang Kaixun), a good-for-nothing college student Bo Yan (played by Hou Yanxi) who spends his days watching adult films, playing games, and hanging out online, single dad Mr. Wang (played by You Anshun) with his innocent fourth-grade daughter Wang Xiaomei (played by He Jierou), secretly cohabiting gay couple Ling Hu (played by Sen Jun) and married university professor Guo Li (played by Li Kangsheng) who hides his homosexual identity, Ms. Chen (played by Li Xing), a workplace seductress with an extramarital affair, and the exceptionally mysterious innocent girl Ying Ru (played by Shao Yuwei), all move into the landlord's strange apartment which is already filled with hidden cameras. Six rooms, eight tenants, and one landlord—unknown secrets and uncontrollable desires linger throughout this apartment, as the landlord, who wishes to control everything, begins to toy with the tenants, trying to provoke the most complex aspects of human nature, directing a film interwoven with black humor, fantasy, mystery, and the closest depiction of human nature.
